Netflix is introducing Netflix Social, a new service that allows you to integrate the movies you watch directly with Facebook so you can get recommendations from friends.
The service is pretty easy to set up. From the Netflix webpage, you'll get an option to turn on Netflix Social. When you connect to your Facebook account, you'll get two new rows of movies, "Favorites" where you'll see the movies your friends rate with four or five stars, and "Recently Watched," where you'll see movies your friends are watching. The rows should show up on the website as well as any other device you watch Netflix on. By default, the sharing only happens within Netflix, which means it doesn't show up in your Facebook feed. That said, you can turn on an option to share it on Facebook as well.
The best feature here is the ability to disable sharing on certain movies. You can also click a button to not share what you're watching, or retroactively unshare anything you've already watched. Netflix Social will be rolling out to US Netflix users over the coming days and everyone should have access by the end of the week.
